EBSCOhost® Electronic Journals Service Reaches E-journal Benchmark – 15,000 Journals Now Accessible

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama, U.S.A. – March 20, 2007 – EBSCO Information Services is pleased to announce that its online solution for e-journal management and access, EBSCOhost® Electronic Journals Service (EJS), now provides access to more than 15,000 e-journals.

EJS is one of a suite of tools and services from EBSCO that simplify acquiring, managing and accessing e-journals and e-journal packages. The extensive features include simplifying and tracking the activation and registration of e-journals, authentication assistance to facilitate both on-campus and remote access to e-journal content and automatic management of e-journal URLs. From one centralized location, libraries can control e-journal registration and manage the coverage data, access rights and license terms of their collection.

This service also facilitates increased e-resource usage through exposure in EBSCO’s E-Journals database and via EBSCOhost SmartLinks™, which provides true one-click linking from citations in EBSCOhost databases to the full text of subscribed e-journals.

“This milestone is indicative of EBSCO’s commitment to provide our customers with a complete solution for managing their e-journals and e-journal packages” said Oliver Pesch, chief strategist, information technology, EBSCO. “We recognize that having an extensive and high quality knowledgebase is the necessary foundation for offering effective services.”
