在2021年1月25日至2月8日期間，皮尤研究中心針對美國人的閱讀習慣和書籍格式偏好進行了一項研究，此數據可看出讀者在這過去10年的存取偏好是否有改變或仍維持不變。
此機構進行的最新研究在其中一項主要發現，則是目前有30%在美國閱讀電子書的讀者比2019年的25%還要多，而背後影響的因素我們可歸咎於支援電子書模式的技術取得增加和電子書在疫情期間的閱讀量上升；簡單來說，透過時間推移對電子書的閱讀需求仍會持續存在和充滿變化。
