Biography
Gene DeWeese was born in Indiana in 1934. He earned his associate degree in electronics from Valparaiso Technical Institute in 1953. DeWeese also took classes at Indiana University and Marquette University. After earning his degree in electronics, DeWeese worked for Delco Radio in Kokomo, Indiana. Deweese married Beverly Joanne Amers, a librarian, in 1955. After five years at Delco Radio, DeWeese became a technical writer for Delco Electronics in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This job enabled him to write technical manuals for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and other clients. DeWeese remained in this position for fifteen years, becoming a freelance writer in 1974.
After embarking on his freelance career, DeWeese went on to write more than thirty novels, including two titles in the Man from U.N.C.L.E. series written with Robert Coulson, The Invisibility Affair and The Mindtwisters Affair. The pair has collaborated on several other novels. Branching out from science fiction, DeWeese has also written mysteries, young adult books, horror novels, and a few novels in the Star Trek, Dinotopia, and Lost in Space series. Popular books from this prolific author’s catalog include Jeremy Case, A Different Darkness, Major Corby and the Unidentified Flapping Object, and Black Suits from Outer Space. DeWeese has received several awards for his work, including honors from the Council for Wisconsin Writers and the National Science Teachers of America.
