Each year, EBSCO strives to help its academic and academic medical library customers plan their library budgets by projecting publisher price increases for the upcoming year. We use recent information received from publishers, as well as historical price data to calculate these projections. As of now, we expect the overall effective publisher price increases for academic and medical libraries in 2021 to be in the range of two to three percent for individual titles and one to three percent for e-journal packages.

In the 2021 report, EBSCO also looks at the impact of pricing due to the COVID-19 pandemic, financial hardships faced by institutions, the skyrocketing use of online resources, impact of e-packages on library budgets, open access and more.
