Knowledge Unlatched has partnered with GOBI to make more than 20 Open Access eCollections on its Open Research Library platform available for pledging through GOBI. With this model, libraries can help fund OA e-books and make quality OA e-books more readily available to libraries worldwide.
In a recent webinar, presenters from Knowledge Unlatched and GOBI discussed their partnership and two librarians at Gwynedd Mercy University discussed their experience with Knowledge Unlatched OA eCollections.
Presenters included:
- Catherine Anderson, Head of Sales Operations at Knowledge Unlatched
- Jon Elwell, Director of Content Strategies at EBSCO
- Jessica Richmond, Information Literacy & Collection Development Librarian, Gwynedd Mercy University
- Lucia McBride, Electronic Resources & Serials Librarian, Gwynedd Mercy University
During the webinar, Catherine discussed how Knowledge Unlatched helps support the open access e-book infrastructure and the available pledging options for collections. Jon highlighted the Open Access options available in GOBI and the benefits of pledging for KU through GOBI, which include GOBI’s simple, familiar eCollection workflow, management of holdings across formats and enhanced metadata.
Jessica and Lucia discussed why Gwynedd Mercy pledges for KU collections and the benefits they’ve found in their experience going through GOBI, including customer service and open communication. They also discussed how these collections have helped increase their library’s visibility, contributed to scholarship, enabled them to put OA initiatives into practice, and helped them support faculty, staff and students.
GOBI users can log in to GOBI to view the collections on the eCollections and EBA tab. Watch the recording to learn more.
