Can you tell us a little about yourself?
I am the Training Specialist at EBSCO for the Nordic region. I joined the company in August 2021 and manage public and customer training for EBSCO customers including universities, colleges, corporate customers and hospitals. If you want to learn more about your EBSCO products or learn how to use them, I’m the person to contact. I’m from London originally and received a BA in English Literature at university. I also received my Chartered Institute of Marketing diploma in Professional Marketing in 2016. Outside of work, I’m a long-suffering Reading Footbal Club fan and long-distance runner.
Prior to joining EBSCO, what did you do?
Before I joined EBSCO, I worked in academic publishing for seven years in marketing, account development and training roles. From 2016 onwards, I managed all the training and discovery service liaising for Adam Matthew Digital, an imprint of SAGE Publishing, which well acquainted me with EBSCO Discovery Service™ (EDS).
What made you want to move to work on EBSCO’s Training team?
I really enjoyed working with discovery service providers when I worked in publishing and wanted to base my next training role on discovery. When the role at EBSCO came up, it was the perfect opportunity. I am fascinated by the range of products and services that EBSCO provides and I enjoy learning how to best train our users.
What is your favourite part of your job?
I enjoy becoming a product expert and devising unique ways to train different types of users. I value continual improvement and building relationships with our customers and users to try and improve our training services.
What are some of the most common questions you get as a library trainer?
It’s one of two camps. I either receive questions about ‘best practice’ for searching and finding content for users or questions around managing content in our discovery layer. Many of our customers manage a huge variety of content types in our EDS discovery layer and I help answer questions around how customers can manage their EDS content and platform.
What do you see your job looking like in the future?
I think one of the main focuses will be onboarding users to new platforms and products. EBSCO is making some fantastic changes and updates to our platforms and services and it’s my job to make sure our users are up to date on the products and services they use daily.
