CHILL selects EBSCO as a Supplier of Print and Electronic Serials Subscriptions and Databases

~ EBSCO to provide health and medical information to libraries in Greater London ~

LONDON — April 25, 2013 — EBSCO announced today that it has been selected as dual supplier of print and electronic serials subscriptions, packages and databases for CHILL, the Consortium of Independent Health Information Libraries in London (an association of forty-three libraries in the greater London area, specialising in information on health and medicine).

The two-year renewable contract is under a framework agreement between CHILL and EBSCO, initiated through a competitive tendering process. A CHILL representative summarised the feedback from members who opted for EBSCO:  “EBSCO was selected because they offer an impressive range of integrated products and services which are known to be reliable and in tune with technological developments, making it easier for libraries to meet the needs of end users.”

EBSCO’s European General Manager, Robert Schoenvogel, states that, in addition to traditional subscription services such as consultation and negotiation with publishers, EBSCO is committed to adding value to healthcare libraries by helping them to reduce costs and work more efficiently. “When resources are limited, EBSCO can help by offering preferential terms and additional benefits to all CHILL members who choose to transition to EBSCO. We have many valued customers in the medical sector, including the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE). We also deliver information services to NHS Scotland and the Royal Society of Medicine, where we are sole supplier.”

EBSCO’s medical offering available through CHILL includes print and e-journals, access to full-text journals through EBSCOhost® databases such as MEDLINE® and CINAHL® plus medical e-book collections and evidence-based, point-of-care reference tools such as DynaMed, Nursing Reference Center, Rehabilitation Reference Center and PEMSoft.
