EBSCO Information Services and IWA Partner to Support the FOLIO Open Source Library Services Platform

~ Partnership Serves Libraries in Finland and the Scandinavian Region ~

IPSWICH, Mass. — June 16, 2020 — EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) and IWA have partnered to support libraries adopting the open source provider FOLIO Library Services Platform (LSP). EBSCO and IWA will work together to provide reliable hosting and support services to libraries in Finland and the Scandinavian region.

IWA is an IT-consultancy that helps organizations create optimal user experience through technical expertise and experience in Finland and the Scandinavian region. Their expertise has expanded to support open source resources. IWA is currently using the same open source tools that are being used to create FOLIO. Through the partnership with EBSCO, IWA will support libraries looking to adopt the FOLIO LSP. By supporting FOLIO in libraries, IWA will help increase the adoption of the open source resource in the region, supporting libraries looking for choice.

IWA’s, CEO & Co-founder, Rami Korhonen says it’s the company’s vision to support open source solutions for libraries who need them. “This partnership with EBSCO is important for libraries in our area that are looking to innovate and improve their workflows. We strive for excellence and efficiency at IWA. Our existing work with open source resources and the new partnership with EBSCO allows us to provide institutions with local support. Libraries can focus on better leveraging their staff and support their end users while we leverage our expertise to ease their migration to FOLIO.”

EBSCO provides funding, developers and project management, as well as providing support for FOLIO. In addition to working with established open source service providers, EBSCO provides hosting services and advanced software support, and a variety of data integration services for libraries adopting the FOLIO LSP.

EBSCO Information Services Director of FOLIO Partnerships Mark Allcock says that EBSCO has been partnering with open source providers such as IWA to offer customer support for FOLIO implementations around the world. “We look for vendors with a strong support ethic, and a desire to help open source communities. IWA is a strong fit for those criteria, and we look forward to working with them to build a robust support offering for libraries in Finland and across Scandinavia.”

FOLIO encompasses a community of librarians, developers and service providers who have joined special interest groups actively creating the open source LSP that supports traditional ILS functionality with the ability to add additional value and services. The applications are modular and allow multiple vendors or libraries to contribute applications. More information is available at www.folio.org.
