IPSWICH, Mass. — October 13, 2020 — A new relationship between EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) and Sygnity Business Solutions ensures that libraries in Poland looking to adopt the FOLIO Library Services Platform (LSP) will have access to local support services. Sygnity Business Solutions will provide FOLIO implementation and support services backed by EBSCO hosting technology and data services.

Sygnity Business Solutions has been operating for 29 years and is one of the major IT providers in Poland. By supporting FOLIO libraries, Sygnity Business Solutions will help increase the adoption of FOLIO and provide additional services to their current customers.

Justyna Kamińska-Wolny, Libraries Solutions Team Manager at Sygnity Business Solutions, indicates that the main goal of the company is to meet the needs and expectations of customers by constantly expanding its offer. “As one of the most experienced and largest IT providers on the library market in Poland, we support innovation and the changes taking place in library services and their automation, and we are actively participating in creating new services”.

Sygnity’s many years of activity in the library market has allowed the company to develop a high-quality level of implementation and maintenance services, as well as data migration expertise. The collaboration with EBSCO in supporting open source solutions is an opportunity for Polish libraries — especially academic and scientific ones — to implement the FOLIO Library Services Platform (LSP introducing new possibilities for library processes, especially electronic resource management.

Nina Korzeniewska, President of the Management Board of Sygnity Business Solutions, says the FOLIO community structure and the collaboration with EBSCO will benefit libraries in Poland. “It’s important for the company to have the perspective of participation in a wide community of specialists involved in the development of FOLIO, combining our competences with global experience. Thanks to a strategic approach, collaboration with EBSCO gives us an opportunity to influence the shape of modern solutions supporting the activity of libraries.”

EBSCO Information Services Director of FOLIO Partnerships, Mark Allcock, says these vendor agreements are giving EBSCO the opportunity to create a high level of customer service standards in various geographical regions. “It’s important that service providers like EBSCO and Sygnity Business Solutions work together on local support structures for libraries in Poland that are looking to implement FOLIO. As libraries begin to go live with the FOLIO LSP, we continue creating partnerships with providers so libraries around the world can benefit from the FOLIO LSP.”

FOLIO encompasses a community of librarians and developers who have joined special interest groups actively creating an open source LSP that supports traditional ILS functionality with ability to add additional value and services. The applications are modular and allow multiple vendors or libraries to contribute applications. More information is available at www.folio.org.
