~ Partnership Increases Open Source Options for Library Services ~

IPSWICH, Mass. — May 26, 2021 — EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) and Younger Information Technology (YIT) have partnered to support libraries adopting the FOLIO Library Services Platform (LSP). EBSCO and YIT will work together to provide reliable and sustainable local hosting and support services to the libraries in China who select the FOLIO platform.

YIT was established in 2017 and provides libraries in China with software services including Electronic Resource Management (ERM), discovery services, resource recommendations, authentication and more. These services are supported by a cloud-based electronic resource metadata built in close cooperation with EBSCO. YIT will partner with EBSCO to help support the adoption of FOLIO for research institutions in China with hosting, implementation and advanced software support services.

General Manager and Co-Founder of YIT, Mr. Lu Yi, says YIT joined the FOLIO project in 2018 and was one of the first key vendors in the FOLIO community in China. The company’s involvement included research and development of discovery and ERM modules while also assisting in the development of FOLIO metadata standards in China. “YIT will continue to place FOLIO as the core of the company's development. We look forward to collaborating with other participants to develop, promote and provide a superior next-generation LSP to libraries. FOLIO’s inclusive, open source and collaborative approach is beneficial to the sustainable development of the project.”

EBSCO Information Services Vice President of Sales in Greater China, Japan and Mongolia, Peter Kung, says that partnering with open source providers adds value to the services offered by EBSCO as FOLIO is increasingly implemented around the world. “YIT’s compact, agile team has a strong focus on open and innovative services that meet the needs of a wide range of libraries. YIT and EBSCO have collaborated for several years on e-resource authentication, discovery service and have now expanded to FOLIO as well as EBSCO’s new and modern library analytics platform, Panorama, providing libraries in China with local support backed by the expertise of both companies.”
