EBSCO Information Services Partners with eReserve to Streamline Resource Management Workflows with EBSCO FOLIO

~ Platform Promotes Institutional Collaboration, Copyright Control and Enhanced Student Experience ~

IPSWICH, Mass. — May 25, 2023 — EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) has partnered with eReserve to support institutions’ resource management workflows with EBSCO FOLIO Services, including services related to copyright control. eReserve is built on a foundation of copyright best practices that offer a clear, defensible position against the increasing threat of copyright litigation while enhancing student engagement and success.

The selection, organization, and delivery of educational resources are some of an institution’s most critical functions. Providing such resources in a digital format has become increasingly necessary for promoting collaboration, easy resource management, advanced copyright control, and an improved student experience by delivering faculty selected and approved educational resources in a digital format within course resource lists.

eReserve uses metadata and license information from EBSCO FOLIO Services and EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS), allowing the platform to accurately report on and manage copyright materials, making digital distribution easier and more legally sound. Additionally, eReserve Plus provides reading lists, resource usage, and other data to Panorama and enhanced acquisition processes using GOBI® Library Solutions from EBSCO (GOBI Library Solutions).

Massey University Associate University Librarian, Tim Darlington, says FOLIO’s customizable and collaborative nature gives libraries the freedom to choose their preferred solutions. “As a user of both eReserve Plus and FOLIO, Massey University welcomes collaboration between EBSCO and eReserve to integrate these two products. One of our reasons for selecting FOLIO was that its API-first approach to building applications means it can easily be integrated with other systems, so we appreciate all cooperation between system providers to create those integrations as it gives us a wider range of choices among applications.” Darlington explains the benefits of working with these providers. “We know from previous dealings with eReserve and EBSCO that both companies are happy to partner with others to help improve our workflows and allow us to make the best choices of which applications to use, so we anticipate significant improvements from eReserve integration with FOLIO.”

eReserve CEO and Managing Director, Karey Patterson, explains the increasing need to safely deliver educational resources in a digital format. “The digital revolution brought on by COVID-19 forced many institutions to reimagine how they find and distribute resources. Because of this, many institutions need access to robust and accurate data that will provide evidence-based insights to support their decision-making and ultimately help students succeed in this new era — while taking much of the hard work from busy library team members.”

EBSCO Information Services Director of FOLIO Partnerships, Mark Allcock, says this partnership will have a positive impact on libraries in two ways. “Libraries are asking for a single point of support for multiple business-critical systems. Libraries who take eReserve Plus via EBSCO, either alongside FOLIO or separately, can call on EBSCO’s global customer satisfaction teams. eReserve Plus is a best-in-breed solution to many libraries’ pain points when it comes to resource sharing and copyright concerns. eReserve’s ability to integrate into the workflows that libraries already know and trust, like EDS, FOLIO, Panorama, and GOBI, makes this the perfect solution for customers looking for reading lists supported by the same great team that provides support for their LSP.”
