EBSCO Information Services and the American Library Association Award Ten Librarians with Scholarships to Attend ALA Annual Conference

~ Scholarships will Defray Travel, Expenses and Registration Costs for Attendees ~

IPSWICH, Mass. — April 27, 2023 — EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO), in partnership with the American Library Association (ALA), has awarded ten scholarships to librarians to attend the 2023 ALA Annual Conference. These scholarships are intended to help librarians defray the cost of travel and other expenses so they can attend more than 500 programs, discussions and sessions from world-class speakers and meet with library vendors. These scholarships allow recipients to learn more about digital content, innovation and leadership and expand their professional development while networking with fellow library professionals.

As part of the submission process, applicants were asked to share how attending the conference will contribute to their professional development. Award winner Bukola James wrote that attending the ALA Annual Conference will offer opportunities that he can bring back to Nigeria. “Attending the ALA Annual Conference will allow me to network with other open knowledge enthusiasts and library professionals from across the globe to share ideas, collaborate on projects, and learn from their experiences. The global perspective and knowledge gained will be essential in today's interconnected world and allow me to make a significant impact in the library profession in Nigeria.”

EBSCO is dedicated to supporting the library community and maintains a long-standing tradition of co-sponsoring scholarships to ALA conferences that provide funds for conference registration, travel and expenses. The scholarship recipients will be honored by EBSCO and ALA representatives during the conference at a scholarship breakfast on Sunday June 25th.
