EBSCO Information Services and BibLibre Partner to Support Libraries Looking to Adopt FOLIO in France

~ Partnership with Open Source Service Provider Offers Libraries a Local Implementation and Support Option when Considering Adopting the FOLIO Library Services Platform ~

IPSWICH, Mass. — February 19, 2020 — EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) and BibLibre have partnered to support libraries adopting the FOLIO Library Services Platform (LSP). EBSCO and BibLibre will work together to provide reliable hosting and local support services.

Currently, BibLibre supports libraries using Koha (ILS), Coral (ERM), Bokeh (portal) or Omeka (digital resources) in France and Europe. By supporting FOLIO libraries, BibLibre will help increase the adoption of this new platform and provide additional services to large academic libraries.

BibLibre Co-Owner Paul Poulain says it is the company’s vision to support open source solutions for libraries. “By partnering with EBSCO to build out FOLIO implementations and support those libraries who are adopting this new technology, we allow libraries to have more choice, more freedom and the support of expert companies.”

EBSCO and BibLibre are committed to developing modules that French academic institutions need, such as compliance with the French National Catalog (SUDOC). EBSCO’s Director of FOLIO Partnerships, Mark Allcock, says EBSCO explicitly seeks out well-regarded local vendors who can both implement and support FOLIO and build new applications and modules on the platform.

“EBSCO seeks to give libraries locally relevant applications, and local support, backed up by EBSCO’s hosting services. By partnering with BibLibre, we increase our ability to support libraries in France and enable libraries there to further benefit from a new open source software and local support.” EBSCO is working with service providers around the world to ensure that libraries have options when choosing their next library services platform while enabling libraries to work with the local providers they know and trust.

EBSCO supports FOLIO with funding, developers and project management as part of the FOLIO community. EBSCO also provides hosting services and support, as well as a variety of data integration services for libraries adopting the FOLIO LSP.

FOLIO is an open source platform created by a community of librarians, developers and vendors to support traditional ILS functionality with the ability to add additional value and services. The applications are modular and allow multiple vendors or libraries to contribute applications. More information is available at www.folio.org.
