EBSCO Information Services and Gest Info Collaborate to Enhance the Library Experience with FOLIO

~ Partnership with Open Source Service Provider Offers Libraries in Mexico Local Options to Implement the FOLIO Library Services Platform ~

IPSWICH, Mass. — June 11, 2020 — EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) and Gest Info have partnered to support libraries adopting the FOLIO Library Services Platform (LSP). EBSCO and Gest Info will work together to provide reliable hosting and support services for libraries in Mexico.

Gest Info also supports libraries using Koha and DSpace. By supporting FOLIO libraries, Gest Info will help increase the adoption of FOLIO and provide hosting and support services to customers.

Gest Info’s Jorge Morales says Gest Info's support of open source resources helps institutions make the best decision about selecting the most suitable solution for them. “We are sure that the alliance between EBSCO and Gest Info will positively result in a better experience for institutions that require a comprehensive information management service, that meets current needs and allows them to be prepared to take on the challenges they could face in the future.”  Morales says the partnership enables the maximum optimization of the resources for customers, which aligns with FOLIO's vision of leveraging open source while considering how to implement cutting-edge library technology.

EBSCO has provided funding, developers and project management to the FOLIO project. In addition to working with established open source services providers, EBSCO also provides hosting services, implementation and advanced software support, as well as a variety of data integration services for libraries adopting the FOLIO LSP.

EBSCO Information Services Director of FOLIO Partnerships, Mark Allcock, says by working with local providers, EBSCO is able to increase FOLIO implementations around the world. “EBSCO has selected well-regarded local vendors to give libraries local support that is backed by EBSCO’s hosting resources. Our partnership with Gest Info will allow us to meet the needs of local libraries.” Allcock says local support will also help expand the adoption of the open source library services platform to more libraries.

FOLIO encompasses a community of librarians, developers and service providers, people who have joined special interest groups actively creating an open source LSP that supports traditional ILS functionality with the ability to innovate and add additional value and services. The applications are modular and allow multiple vendors or libraries to contribute applications. More information is available at www.folio.org.
