IPSWICH, Mass. — May 4, 2015 — Lipscomb University, in Nashville, Tennessee, has selected Encore Duet, which offers patrons a single search of local books and digital resources, plus content from EBSCO Discovery Service™ (EDS) that brings users the most comprehensive collection of full-text articles and e-books available. Encore Duet is a collaboration between Innovative and EBSCO to provide access to EDS within the Encore experience. The interoperability of Encore Duet and EDS will provide improved discoverability and delivery of content for students and faculty at the university.
Lipscomb University had been looking for a seamless integration of all of their resources as well as relevant content for their users. Kayce Gill, Serials and Electronic Resources Librarian at Lipscomb University says “Encore Duet helps us provide users with easy-to-find pertinent content. The solution offers the availability of searching the majority of our databases as well as all of our e-journal content and our print collection. We liked that our patrons would be able to search all of our e-journal content at one time rather than going to each e-journal publisher site.”
Gill adds that the Encore Duet solution provides a seamless discovery experience for their users “The backend of Encore Duet is immeasurably better than the backend of other discovery services in the way that the databases and e-journal content are connected and delivered. The administrator side is also much more user friendly than other discovery solutions. The patrons take for granted the ease of use and clean layout of search results that come from a complex and robust behind the scenes structure.”
The integration of services between EDS and Encore, not only expand the quality and amount of content available for library patrons, but it also offers the enhanced features and functionality available from EDS. Gill notes that since implementation of Encore Duet, the library users have come to rely on the relevancy ranking feature as well as the expanded facets feature.
