IPSWICH, Mass. — Sept. 10, 2015 — Libraries can now turn to EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) to support the needs of those studying mathematical sciences. MathSciNet®, an electronic publication of the American Mathematical Society (AMS), is now available via the EBSCOhost® platform, offering access to a carefully maintained database of reviews, abstracts and bibliographic information for much of the literature of mathematics and its applications.
According to Robert Harington, Associate Executive Director for Publishing at the American Mathematical Society, the collaboration between AMS and EBSCO will extend the reach of MathSciNet and provide more options for those studying mathematical sciences. “The AMS is pleased to partner with EBSCO to give librarians and mathematics researchers another way to access MathSciNet’s unmatched resources.”
Featuring over 3.1 million items and more than 1.9 million direct links to original articles from over 1,800 journals, MathSciNet is considered the leading mathematics resource available for researchers. MathSciNet also offers bibliographic listings dating back to the early 1800s. Reference lists are collected and matched internally from approximately 570 journals, and citation data for journals, authors, articles and reviews are provided. The database currently includes over nine million matched citations from over 300,000 authors and more than 3,000 journals, allowing users to track the history and influence of research publications in the mathematical sciences.
More than 40,000 reviews are added to MathSciNet each year. Continuing in the tradition of the paper publication, Mathematical Reviews (MR), which was first published in 1940, expert reviewers are selected by a staff of professional mathematicians to write reviews of the current published literature.
