NoveList Adds Character Appeal and More

~ The Latest Release of NoveList Enhances Character Appeal and Auto-Complete to Better Assists Customers ~

The latest release of NoveList (including NoveList Plus, NoveList, NoveList K-8 Plus, and NoveList K-8) offers two new enhancements for all customers: character appeal and enhanced auto-complete. We think you'll love them both.

Character Appeal Makes Its Debut

Want to find books with unreliable narrators, snarky protagonists, or characters from diverse backgrounds? All of those are made easier with the addition of character appeal. Much like other appeal terms describe the feel or tone of the writing, character appeal describes the essence and personal qualities of the main characters. It’s one more tool to help you identify the right book for every reader.

If you’d like to learn more about character appeal, Victoria Caplinger describes it in Character Appeal Makes Its Debut.

To celebrate the arrival of character appeal, we updated our booklet The Secret Language of Books: A Guide to Appeal. It has all new sections and tips for getting the most out of appeal. Learn more about it on the What is Appeal page.

Improved Searching with Auto-Complete

Almost exactly a year ago we added auto-complete, and it has been a much-loved feature that makes it easier for users to find what they're looking for. We’re now improving it even further by adding result groupings – all titles are grouped together; all authors are grouped together, etc. This means both clearer presentation of results and improved accuracy when you click on a result. Here’s a peek at how it looks:

We hope you enjoy these enhancements! They'll be rolling out the week of April 27, 2015. Send us feedback.
