IPSWICH, Mass. — April 11, 2023 — Oklahoma State University (OSU) Library begins the transition to the FOLIO Library Services Platform (LSP) using EBSCO FOLIO hosting and implementation services from EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO). The switch from its existing ILS to FOLIO will allow OSU to choose its preferred library automation solutions to maximize the workflow experience and build its own customizations.
EBSCO FOLIO provides a flexible, customizable experience that allows libraries to acquire the applications they need to create a unique system and avoid forced packages and predetermined workflows.
By leveraging FOLIO’s open framework, EBSCO FOLIO will integrate OSU’s new and existing EBSCO resources to enhance the library’s workflow and patron services. OSU will integrate EBSCO Knowledge Base to streamline OSU’s electronic resource management (ERM) applications and GOBI® Library Solutions from EBSCO (GOBI Library Solutions) for the library’s book selection and acquisitions. The University will also leverage EBSCO Discovery Service™ (EDS) to enhance end-users’ research experience.
EBSCO Information Services Director of FOLIO Consulting Services, Anya Arnold, says there are advantages for OSU in joining the open movement using EBSCO FOLIO services. “The array of solutions and services that FOLIO can accommodate helps meet the unique needs of every library. OSU Library’s choice to adopt FOLIO with EBSCO FOLIO’s expertise in hosting and support will give them the freedom and ease to pick, choose and create the best workflow solutions for the institution while saving valuable time and resources.”
Oklahoma State University Dean of Libraries and Clerico Family Chair for Library Excellence, Sheila Johnson, shares the reasoning for switching from their existing ILS to FOLIO. “This move will result in significant savings. As a public institution, we have an obligation to maximize our resources to meet the needs of our users. At Oklahoma State University, we embrace the open movement, and the library is a leader in this regard. We look forward to joining like-minded institutions in adopting this open source solution, and we are eager to contribute to the FOLIO community as we build our own customizations for the platform.”
