IPSWICH, Mass. — November 8, 2016 — Two leading organisations in healthcare are reinforcing their relationship to help clinicians access the very latest evidence-based information and improve patient outcomes. Queensland Health has continued its partnership with EBSCO Health (EBSCO) with the contract to provide the state-wide Clinical Knowledge Network (CKN) information portal extended to June 2019.
CKN provides access to clinical information resources for all Queensland Hospital and Health Service and Queensland Ambulance Service employees. All doctors, nurses and midwives, pharmacists, researchers and allied health staff have access to a comprehensive range of point-of-care and research database information, medical journals and e-books, clinical guidelines and mobile apps.
First awarded the contract in 2014, EBSCO has been responsible for the building and ongoing maintenance of the internet portal, and managing relationships with over 45 medical publishers. In that time EBSCO has also relaunched the website, creating an intuitive and easy-to-use service for all clinicians in the Queensland public health system. As the CKN service’s managing agent, EBSCO also provides comprehensive training resources, an around-the-clock customer service helpdesk, and its own comprehensive next-generation “discovery layer” search box giving visibility across the entire CKN collection of more than 300 separate journals, publications and clinical information sources.
Richard Sayers, Queensland Health’s Manager of Clinical Knowledge Resources said “EBSCO remains the logical choice to manage this vital piece of Queensland health infrastructure, not only bringing its own leading range of health resources such as DynaMed Plus® and the Queensland-developed PEMSoft paediatric database, but also its many years’ experience in managing complex publisher relationships and large scale health portals.”
The contract extension represents a great vote of confidence in EBSCO’s health portal development and management, according to Vick Nicholson, Director of EBSCO Australia. “We’re looking forward to giving Queensland clinicians access to the best possible healthcare information, and continuing to make it as easy as possible for them to have it.”
