IPSWICH, Mass. — August 29, 2024 — Southern New Hampshire University’s (SNHU) Shapiro Library has chosen FOLIO as its new Library Services Platform (LSP) using EBSCO FOLIO Services from EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO). SNHU will also leverage numerous products from EBSCO’s Software as a Service (SaaS) Suite, creating a more streamlined experience managing the various workflow solutions SNHU utilizes to maximize its end users’ experience.
Designed as an open platform, FOLIO will allow SNHU to integrate its desired applications, creating a customized experience to modernize and streamline its library workflows. SNHU will integrate numerous EBSCO products with FOLIO, including EBSCO Discovery Service™ (EDS), GOBI® Library Solutions (GOBI), OpenAthens, and Panorama.
To enhance the end users’ experience—whether online or in-person—SNHU will integrate OpenAthens and EDS with FOLIO, allowing seamless access to library resources anytime, anywhere, and on any device. Combining easy authentication with an intuitive discovery platform will create a more secure and efficient research journey and improve overall discoverability. The integration aims to streamline user authentication, eliminating the need to repeatedly enter credentials when navigating between resources while prioritizing digital security.
SNHU Assistant Vice President of Library Technology and Information Management, Jennifer Harris, says the decision to implement FOLIO came from the need for a flexible LSP that supports students. “At SNHU, we’re committed to making improvements that will benefit our students, and FOLIO provides the functionality and flexibility to offer exceptional library services to meet their evolving needs. Given our long-standing relationship with EBSCO and use of their other products and services, from EDS, OpenAthens, and Panorama to databases and eBooks, we are confident in selecting EBSCO as our FOLIO service provider and their commitment to SNHU’s unique needs. We’re excited to work together and for the improvements to efficiency and user experience we expect from FOLIO.”
EBSCO Information Services Director of SaaS Innovation, Andrew Nagy, emphasizes that combining EBSCO SaaS offerings and FOLIO significantly improves the overall experience for library staff and users. “We are thrilled to support SNHU in ensuring seamless access to library resources, enhancing discoverability for SNHU's students, and improving library workflows. Integrating FOLIO with EBSCO’s SaaS solutions like EDS and OpenAthens presents a comprehensive solution for libraries seeking to enhance the research experience for their users."
