IPSWICH, Mass. — October 8, 2015 — YBP Library Services (YBP) and EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) will be working more closely with academic institutions in Ireland after agreeing to new contracts to supply e-books and journals. The tenders were issued and managed by Education Procurement Services (EPS) over the last few months.
YBP was ranked first in the category of e-book supply in May of this year. With the contract, YBP will be coordinating with the universities and Institutes of Technology in Ireland to deliver, as well as extend and enhance workflows with the aim of supporting students and research throughout the country.
EPS also led a separate tender last month that resulted in EBSCO’s journal subscription services being selected as sole supplier of online and printed journals to EPS members for the next two years. EPS selected EBSCO last year following the Swets' bankruptcy, working closely with member libraries to restore stability with an interim arrangement. The new agreement builds upon the work that has already been undertaken and further strengthens the new working relationships.
EBSCO General Manager Paul Harwood says these two agreements build on long standing relationships with IReL and the Institutes of Technology. “We are thrilled to have these two additional opportunities to work with academic libraries in Ireland. We are particularly pleased that YBP was designated the top-ranked supplier for e-books and look forward to continuing our work on the journals side with our librarian colleagues at the member institutions.”
