Enhanced Features

On 1 July 2018, Répertoire International de Littérature Musicale (RILM) assumed ownership of the Index to Printed Music. The newly released version includes the following features:

  • Detailed records for each volume, including a table of contents, links to series, and publication information
  • The ability to search for either individual musical works or a whole collection of printed music
  • Links between different record types for easy navigation from the most granular details of individual works to entire series
  • Records for pieces that are available as part of open-access editions increasingly include hyperlinks
  • A new series authority that enables browsing of series records

An essential tool for music researchers and performers

IPM provides students, teachers, and researchers with essential access to specific musical works contained in printed collections, sets, and series. Performers, conductors, and directors of ensembles will also find IPM a valuable search tool because it provides a granular level of detail about each piece, including performing forces, language, genre, type of score, sources, and publication information. Users can easily locate different editions of the same piece within IPM.

Comprehensive Coverage

IPM indexes over 1,700 series, sets, and monuments, and hundreds of composers' collected works. As new volumes are added to existing sets and series, IPM expands continuously to be as comprehensive and up-to-date as possible.
