Pandateria
Pandateria, also known as Ventotene, is a small islet located in the Tyrrhenian Sea, situated off the northwest coast of Campania, Italy, between the islands of Ponza and Ischia. Historically significant, it served as a place of exile for several prominent figures in Roman history, including Julia the Younger, who was banished by her father Augustus, and Agrippina the Elder, who faced exile under Tiberius and ultimately starved herself to death there. The island was also the site of exile for Octavia, who was killed by her husband Nero, and Flavia Domitilla, exiled by Domitian. Its association with these historical events contributes to its intrigue, reflecting the darker aspects of political power in ancient Rome. Today, Pandateria is recognized not only for its tumultuous past but also for its natural beauty, featuring dramatic cliffs and coastal scenery. Visitors to the island may find it an intriguing destination, rich in history and picturesque landscapes.
