The Modern Library Awards recognize excellence in library products and services. Each year, more than 80,000 library professionals in the LibraryWorks readership vote on products in categories such as library hardware, software and automation services. Librarians rate each product’s quality, functionality, value and customer service experience. The 2022 Modern Library Awards were announced January 13.
Two popular EBSCO products ― Flipster® and PrepSTEP® for High Schools ― have once again received the Modern Library Awards’ highest honor: Platinum. Flipster has earned the Platinum distinction five consecutive times, and PrepSTEP has won Platinum for the third year in a row.
Flipster is a digital magazine platform that allows patrons of subscribing libraries to browse popular magazines, from any location. Flipster offers an intuitive reading experience for people of all ages and experience levels. Flipster digital magazines are accessible from school, home, work or on the go and can easily be downloaded for offline reading using the enhanced Flipster iOS and Android apps.
“We at the library love Flipster,” one judge commented. “Our cardholders need only enter their library card number and away they go. We rarely experience issues with access. The app is user-friendly and allows for easy reading of any magazine. Customers have no need to contact us for help — it just works!”
Another judge said, “Flipster is one of my very favorite resources to share with our students!”
PrepSTEP for High Schools is a dynamic e-learning platform containing tutorials, practice tests, articles and e-books for self-guided skill building, standardized test preparation, career development and more. PrepSTEP offers Common Core and Non-Common Core editions and is compatible with Blackboard, Canvas, Schoology and Brightspace learning management systems.
“All our students loved having access to PrepSTEP,” said one judge. “It was a tremendous help with all our standardized tests, from ACT® to ASVAB. It was also an easy resource to use to preview colleges, their admission requirements and available majors. It was a wonderful resource which we plan on renewing this year!”
