The Modern Library Awards recognize top products in the library marketplace. More than 80,000 library professionals in the LibraryWorks readership vote on products in categories such as library hardware, software and automation services. Librarians rate each product’s quality, functionality, value and customer service experience.
Two EBSCO products ― Flipster® and PrepSTEP® for High Schools ― have once again received the Modern Library Awards’ highest honor: Platinum. Flipster has received the Platinum distinction four times, and PrepSTEP has won Platinum for the second year in a row.
Flipster is a digital magazine platform that allows library patrons to browse the latest issues of popular magazines, from any location, courtesy of the library. Flipster offers an easy, browseable reading experience for people of all ages and experience levels. Flipster digital magazines are accessible from school, home, work or on the go and can easily be downloaded for offline reading using the enhanced Flipster iOS and Android apps.
In addition to the intuitive format and wide selection of magazines, judges commented about the ease of use and the peace of mind the platform provides to their staff and users.
“Flipster is one of the products our library system can trust to work. There aren't complicated logins or passwords,” one judge commented. “In fact, I'd say it's the easiest app our library offers to customers. I've only heard good things from our customers about Flipster!”
PrepSTEP for High Schools is a dynamic online learning platform packed with tutorials, practice tests, articles and e-books for self-guided skill building, standardized test preparation, career development and more. PrepSTEP offers Common Core and Non-Common Core editions and is compatible with Blackboard, Canvas and Brightspace learning management systems.
One of this year’s judges noted that PrepSTEP’s intuitive navigation makes it easy for students to find practice tests and other helpful resources. “Many expressed that the practice tests helped improve their ACT® scores,” the judge said. “As a facilitator, I loved PrepSTEP because it was easy to integrate into our library programs, and the students loved it.”
Another judge praised EBSCO LearningExpress’s “standout” customer service. “They are very receptive to our feedback and committed to making improvements to the product. It is a niche area for database services and so having this service has added unique value to our offerings.”
