World Mental Health Day, an international day for global mental health education, awareness and advocacy against social stigma, is recognized every year on October 10. EBSCO proudly partners with organizations like the American Psychological Association (APA) to continue these conversations on mental health and promote the worldwide discovery of scholarly research on behavioral science.
In 2019, one in every eight people, or 970 million people around the world, were reported to be living with a mental disorder, with anxiety and depressive disorders being the most common. Despite the global-reaching impact of mental health, societal stigmas attached to mental illnesses often prevent individuals from seeking the help they need.
EBSCO offers a suite of APA Databases® – APA PsycInfo®, APA PsycArticles®, APA PsycBooks®, APA PsycTherapy®, APA PsycTests® and APA PsycExtra® – to provide researchers with an unsurpassed collection of indexing and rich, full-text content and training videos that span the full spectrum of psychology and related fields. Like EBSCO, the APA is committed to diversity and inclusion to ensure that students and scholars worldwide can take part in this global conversation, supporting mental health education and awareness.
APA PsycInfo includes publications from more than 50 countries and journals published in 29 languages, and features titles such as Community Psychology in Global Perspective, Global Mental Health, and Global Public Health: An International Journal for Research, Policy and Practice. Other resources published by the APA, such as APA PsycTests, feature select tests and measurements available in more than 40 languages.
Does your organization provide behavioral health counseling, instruction or research? If so, download this ebrochure to learn more about APA Databases.
