Pilar Martinez is the Chief Executive Officer of the Edmonton Public Library. Pilar is highly engaged with the community, serving on several boards nationwide, including the Canadian Urban Libraries Council, OCLC Global Council/Americas Regional Council, the Urban Libraries Council Executive Board, the Public Lending Rights Commission, Edmonton’s Innovation Growth Council and as an Adjunct Professor for the University of Alberta’s School of Library and Information Studies. In 2012, Pilar was honored with the CLA/Ken Haycock Award for promoting librarianship and received the Library Association of Alberta’s President Award in 2016 for her contributions to the library field. Pilar is a librarian, a booklover, a partner and a mom.
