Join us as we get to know Daniela Mulas a little better. Daniela is our Collection Development Manager here in the UK, Ireland and Nordics, providing e-book acquisition, collection management and collection development training to customers across the Academic, Government, Corporate and Medical sectors.
Daniela, can you tell us a little about yourself?
I’m from Italy, I grew up in Argentina and I’ve been living in the UK for 15 years, the last 7 of which have been in Scotland, which I absolutely love. When I’m not at work, I love spending my days outdoors either hiking, camping or trying out something new. SUP in the Outer Hebrides is next on my agenda!
How long have you been with EBSCO, and what is your current position?
I’ve been with EBSCO for 8 years as a Regional Manager looking after journal subscriptions and GOBI Library Solutions. After a year out on maternity leave, I came back to EBSCO in a new position as Collection Development Manager for GOBI Library Solutions.
What will your role with GOBI Library Solutions entail?
In my role, I'll be engaged in enhancing customer support to streamline acquisitions, collection management and development processes. Specifically, I'll be working closely with customers to optimise their experience in navigating the intricacies of acquisitions and providing training sessions tailored to empower libraries in maximising EBSCO’s platforms effectively.
I'll be actively involved in introducing and implementing collection development strategies and resources that assist libraries in discovering and acquiring new and diverse content. This includes offering insights into various tools and methods available to keep libraries abreast of the latest published content, promoting a more comprehensive and up-to-date collection.
I'm also excited to contribute to the rollout of Mosaic in Europe when it will be released. This involvement includes understanding the unique needs of European libraries and collaborating with teams to ensure a seamless rollout and integration of Mosaic, thereby enhancing its utility and effectiveness in the European library landscape.
Overall, my role will revolve around facilitating relationships between libraries and EBSCO, using technology, training, and resources to optimise library services and offerings.
What benefits do you see GOBI bringing to academic libraries in the UK?
GOBI offers immense value to all libraries facilitating content discovery and acquisition and ensuring access to inclusive and diverse materials meeting the evolving academic needs efficiently. EBSCO’s commitment to technology and openness enables seamless systems integration and simplifying day-to-day tasks for all GOBI users. Our customers benefit from regular communication and support from our experienced, helpful, and friendly team and I feel lucky to work among such a high calibre and committed team!

What do you see your job looking like in the future?
I see my role evolving alongside technology, content and data. With the upcoming rollout of Mosaic, I look forward to supporting and promoting workflow solutions that enable, among other things, the discovery and access of content fit for the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion mandate across all organisations. I see this enhancement and its cross integration with analytics in tools such as Panorama as an exciting development opportunity for the coming years.
